This was a fun episode. I’m honestly shocked to hear all the critical praise for Marathon from insiders. I am a Destiny veteran and really tried to give Marathon a go but I am just not a fan of sweaty PvP and cannot engage with this game. I put in a good 15 hours but it was mostly frustration because I wanted to explore the cool world and see all the hidden lore… other people had other plans for me though*.
I just don’t get how people get off ruining other people’s fun. It’s a really cool world but you won’t find me giving it anymore of my time.
I was also really surprised by this. I played the beta and had a terrible time with it. I really dislike the entire loop of the extraction shooter genre and the tone of the community around it too. And I'm apparently a rarity because I don't like the aesthetic of the game, either. I don't see how it can keep going with its current player base, but I'm glad people are getting a lot out of it. I won't be going back unless they completely overhaul it.
